Meal Tracking

Meal Tracking

Meal tracking is one of the features of the Daily Reports which can be created for parents each day.  Daily Reports can only be created in the mobile app (https://app.timesavr.net) and the Connect package is required to have access to the Daily Reports module.

When recording meals, you can easily select which type of meal you're recording (Breakfast, Lunch, Afternoon Snack, etc.) and when you add food to this meal you'll be able to select whether the child ate None, Some, Most or All of the food item.  You can also copy an entire meal report to multiple children so you don't have to enter the same data multiple times.

Desktop App - Configure Meal Types

On the Items tab of the Daily Reports page on your desktop app, the Meals page lists the meal types available.  You can enable the meal types you want to use and disable the rest.  You can also specify a default time of day for each of these meal types which will be used when recording the meal.  The educator will have the option of modifying the time if necessary, but entering a default here that applies to most days will speed up record entry.

Recording a Group Meal

To record a meal, you must use the mobile app.  For more information on the mobile app, click here.

To record a meal for multiple children at the same time, select the Meals option on the main Daily Reports page.  Select your meal type, and then your first food item.  The meal types you are prompted with, are the meal types you've selected in the desktop app, as explained above.

After selecting your first food item, you can add another, or select your children.  After selecting your children, your reports are created when you click "Save".  The advantage of creating meals this way is that you will see all your created meals listed together, after you create them, so if you have to modify meals for any of the children, you don't have to go to each individual child's meal page.  You can easily individually modify how much of each food item each child has eaten, or remove a food item from an individual child's meal.

Adding to Meals

To add more food items to existing meals, simply select the Meals option again, from the hamburger menu.  And if you select the same meal type, any food items selected will be added to that meal for each selected child. In this way, you can create a meal for some of your kids, and then create a second meal for others, even if some of the food items are the same for all.

This also allows you to add to an existing meal if you forgot to add an item earlier, as any meals of the same type that are created later in the same day, are automatically merged with the meal you created earlier.

 Adding Media

After creating the meals, you can also add photos or videos for the entire group. If you rotate, delete or comment the photo after upload, it will apply to all copies of the photo by default.

If the photo does not apply to all children, you can remove the photo individually, by unchecking the "Applies to all" checkbox.   The "Applies to all" checkbox is enabled by default, which means if you delete the photo, it will be deleted from all child reports, and if you add a comment to the photo, that comment will be added for all children with that photo.

Recording a Single Meal

To create a meal report for a single child, start on that child's Daily Reports page.  You can access the child's Daily Reports page, by clicking on the report option under the child's name on the attendance list.

Click on +Meal, then select your meal type.  If you only have one active meal type, like lunch for example, then clicking +Meal will automatically insert a lunch meal.

This inserts a row with the default meal time pre-populated.

Then click +Food and select your food item.

By default the amount eaten is set to "All" so you only need to change it when necessary.
