Linking Accounts
The linking of accounts refers to the linking of multiple different Timesavr accounts to a single username. This process does not link the different accounts to each other, but only to a given username. In this way you can link accounts for some of your users, but not all, and only those users with the accounts linked will be able to switch back and forth.
The Centre Menu
The process of linking accounts, and also the process of switching between accounts once they are linked, is all done through your centre menu. The Centre menu is attached to the name of your centre, along the grey bar near the right hand side. In addition to switching accounts, on this menu you can also access your centre profile and Timesavr subscription but for the purposes of linking accounts you will be using the options "External Access" and "Link another account".
Once you've finished linking your username to another account, both your accounts will also be listed in this menu and it is from here where you will be switching between the different accounts. There is no limit to the number of different accounts you can link to.
Choosing your Username
This article assumes you have at least two Timesavr accounts and therefore at least two usernames, one for each account. Before you start the process of linking accounts, you need to decide which of your usernames you want to use as your primary as that is the one to which you will be linking the other accounts.
Say, for example, you have two accounts (two daycare centres) named "Little Birds" and "Little Nerds", and your primary usernames for these accounts are "BigBird" and "BigNerd" respectively. You will choose one of those usernames to be the one you want to login with going forward. For the purposes of this article we're going to assume you're using "BigNerd" as your primary username which obviously already has access to the "Little Nerds" account, and we want to add access to "Little Birdies" so that by the time we're done, logging in with "BigNerd" will give you access to both centres.
Access Key
To link your username to another account you will need that account's Account ID and Access Key. These are basically like an internal username and password that you'll need to authenticate yourself.
In order to get the Account ID and Access Key you will need to log into that account with an original username and password for that account. So, keeping with our example where we want to use "BigNerd" as our primary username, that means we need to first log in with "BigBird" to access the "Little Birds" account to get the info we need.
Log into your secondary account (not the username you want to use) and from the Centre Menu, select "External Access" (see screenshot above).
On the External Access page, on the Access Key tab grab the Account ID and Access Key. It's a good idea to copy these values into a text document (open Notepad on Windows or TextEdit on a Mac) and paste these two values in, along with the name of the centre if you're linking more than one centre. You will need these two values again in the next step.
If the Access Key is blank, click the "Generate New Key" button. Generating a new key will not affect other users who may have already linked their username to this account.
Link Another Account
Once you have the information you need, from the account you want to link to, log into Timesavr with your chosen username. This is the username that you've decided you want to use going forward and the username to which you want to link another account.
Once logged in with your chosen username, open up the centre menu and this time select "Link another account". Paste in the account id and access key you saved in the previous step and submit. This will link the other account to your current username.
Revoking Access
The External Users tab lists all other users who have access to this account by having linked this account to their username. If you want to revoke another user's access from this account, you can do so on the External Users tab. This page can also be accessed by going to Admin / Security / External Access.
Your Other Accounts
The "Your Other Accounts" page lists all the other accounts that you have access to. You can also use this page to switch to another account, or relinquish your access. This page can be accessed by going to Admin / Security / External Access.
